Mine Credit Builder Debit Card (formerly Fizz Credit-Building Visa® Card) is built for students and young adults who want to build credit without carrying a revolving balance. It links to your checking account, repays purchases daily, and reports to Experian and TransUnion. The trade-off is a paid membership, so the value equation comes down to how much you’ll benefit from automated credit building and student-friendly rewards versus that ongoing cost.

What Mine Card?

Most starter cards make you choose between three compromises: a hard credit check, the risk of carrying a balance, or clunky secured-card workflows. Mine takes a different tack. It gives you a debit-like Visa experience (issued by Lead Bank) and a line of credit that’s repaid each night automatically from your linked bank account. Activity on that line is then reported to the bureaus, currently Experian and TransUnion, so your responsible use can translate into an actual credit history.

That daily “reset to zero” is the entire thesis. It reduces the chance you’ll accidentally carry a balance, and it tends to smooth your reported utilization because purchases don’t linger for weeks waiting for a statement cycle. If you’ve ever missed a due date or felt anxious about interest,  Mine is engineered to lower that stress.

How Mine Card Works

You connect a checking account, Mine assigns a sensible spend limit based on your balance, and you use the card normally wherever Visa debit is accepted. Each night, daily Autopay pulls yesterday’s settled purchases from your bank, so you start the next day with a $0 Mine balance. Turn daily Autopay off, and you’ll be responsible for paying like a traditional card. Mine makes that possible, but clearly nudges you toward daily repayment.

You can get a credit line up to $1,000, which can be higher than some of the starting limits offered by other secured cards.

On the back end, the program structure is transparent: Lead Bank issues the debit Visa, and Lead Bank originates any credit used in connection with the card. That’s the tradeline Mine says it reports to Experian and TransUnion. If a lender only pulls Equifax, they won’t see your Mine history, good to know if you’re planning a major application soon.

Pricing: what you’ll actually pay (and how 25% off changes it)

Mine uses a membership model with student and non-student tiers for building credit:

  • Student: $59.99/year (student)
  • Non-student: $129.99/year

Both plans have quarterly and monthly options available. Use this exclusive link and promo code MINERV25 at signup to get 25% off. effectively reduces the student annual plan to $44.99, which is often the best value if you plan to stay for a full year.

If we translate that into “break-even” terms: at a 3% base earn (more below), $59.99 requires roughly $2,000 of spend in bonus categories across a year to offset the fee; at $44.99 with the promo, that hurdle drops closer to $1,500. If you value the credit-building automation itself, not just cash back, that subjective value also belongs on the plus side of the ledger.

There's a free plan, but it doesn't help you build credit. You can check your credit, assess your financial literacy with quizzes, and access courses.

Rewards: student-first earn structure with weekly twists

Mine markets 3% cash back in a category you choose (and can change weekly), plus Mine Friday promos that advertise “up to 100% back” at rotating national retailers and campus-friendly brands. There are also ongoing “flash” offers inside the app. Treat Fridays and flashes as opportunistic boosts rather than guaranteed income; they change frequently, which is part of the fun but also means your mileage varies.

Because daily Autopay keeps your balance near zero, Mine isn’t a card for statement-balance gaming or big welcome offers. it’s a behavior shaper.
The win comes from (1) consistent on-time repayment that generates a two-bureau history, and (2) skimming modest rewards from the spending you were going to make anyway.

Who Mine fits (and who should probably skip)

Mine shines for three groups:

  • Students who’ve never had a card. No hard pull friction, daily repayment by default, and rewards aimed at coffee, groceries, and campus life. It’s training wheels that actually build credit with Experian/TransUnion.
  • International students or newcomers who can verify identity but may not have a traditional file yet. Mine’s structure can be a bridge to mainstream cards later.
  • Debt-averse budgeters who’ve tried (and disliked) traditional credit cards. The daily “clean slate” lowers the chance of snowballing balances.

Consider alternatives if you want $0 fees, three-bureau coverage, or an intro bonus:

Is Mine Card legit? A quick look at the fine print

Mine is a program manager, not a bank. The Mine Debit Visa is issued by Lead Bank; any loans related to your use of the card are originated by Lead Bank. Mine publishes consumer-facing policies, a cardholder agreement, a fee schedule, and “licenses & disclosures” that spell out these relationships. That stack is what you want to see from a real, regulated setup. As always, missed/late payments can be reported and may hurt your score. Mine is not a credit-eraser.

Main Takeaway

Mine is  an option for a “debit-like card that actually builds credit.” If you want daily-autopay guardrails, two-bureau reporting, and student-focused rewards, and you’re comfortable paying for the service, Mine earns a spot on the shortlist. If you demand three-bureau coverage or won’t pay a membership, pick a no-fee secured/student card instead.
