Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card: Lounge Access Guide

The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card includes lounge access for the primary cardholder, but a family visit can still come with a bill. Guest fees depend on the lounge network, your companions' ages and whether you have unlocked complimentary Capital One guest access.

For an eligible authorized user or additional cardholder age 18 or older on your account, the optional $125 annual fee purchases lounge access and can cost less than repeated guest charges. Below, compare the current rules, count your actual lounge entries and estimate what your household would pay.

Venture X lounge access and guest fees

Primary cardholders have access to Capital One Lounges and Capital One Landings, plus participating Priority Pass lounges after enrollment. Adding an authorized user alone does not include lounge access. The optional $125 annual fee purchases access for each eligible additional cardholder age 18 or older and renews annually unless canceled. Priority Pass enrollment is required for that network.

The Capital One guest allowance also applies to additional cardholders who have paid for annual lounge access. Entry is subject to availability and the location's rules.

How the business card differs

The Capital One Venture X Business includes up to two complimentary guests per Priority Pass visit for the primary cardholder and eligible additional cardholders with paid lounge access. Additional guests cost $35 each per visit. Its Capital One Lounge and Landing guest rules follow the spending threshold above.

The household examples and worksheet below use the personal Venture X rules. Both products allow paid lounge access for up to four eligible additional cardholders.

What will lounge access cost your household?

Count lounge entries, not vacations. Visiting a lounge before departure, during a connection and on the return journey means three entries. Run the comparison for the same adult companion over one annual access period. If different friends join different trips, their guest charges do not combine into one person's annual access fee.

When the $125 annual access fee costs less

For one eligible authorized user or additional cardholder age 18 or older traveling with the primary cardholder, without complimentary guest access:

Annual access costs $10 less at the third $45 visit, or $15 less at the fourth $35 visit. A mix of two Capital One entries and one Priority Pass entry totals $125, equal to the annual fee. Paid access can also be useful when that adult travels independently, subject to eligibility, enrollment and entry rules.

Two adults and two children

Assume one adult is the primary cardholder, the other is an eligible authorized user, both children are ages 2 to 17 and the account has not unlocked complimentary guest access. At a Capital One Lounge, the companions cost $95 per entry: $45 for the adult and $25 for each child. Four household entries cost $380.

Buying annual access for the second adult changes that four-entry total to $325: $125 for the adult's annual access plus $200 in child guest fees. The $55 savings comes from the adult's entries. Children under 18 cannot receive the paid additional-cardholder access benefit.

At Priority Pass, if the chosen lounge charges both children, three guests cost $105 per entry. Four entries total $420, compared with $405 when the second adult has annual access. Check each lounge's child policy before using this example. Capital One's under-2 exemption does not automatically apply to Priority Pass.

How the $75,000 guest benefit changes the math

Qualifying net purchases across all cardholders on one account count toward the calendar-year threshold. Guest access lasts for the qualifying year, the following year and through Jan. 31 of the next year. Account fees, including the lounge access fee, do not count.

With the benefit active, one primary cardholder can cover two companions at a Capital One Lounge but only one at a Landing. For the family above, admitting the adult and one child as the two complimentary Lounge guests leaves a $25 charge for the second child. Four household entries cost $100, less than the $125 annual access option. Five entries reach $125; at six, the $150 in child guest fees would exceed it. At a Landing, one complimentary guest slot leaves two paid companions. With annual access for the second adult, each adult could bring one child. All remain subject to admission rules.

Do not add spending simply to unlock guest access. Compare the fees you would actually avoid with your normal spending plan and other rewards options. The spending benefit does not remove personal Venture X Priority Pass guest fees.

Use the worksheet below for a personal Venture X account. Count companions in addition to the primary cardholder and the entries each person expects at each network. Totals exclude the card's $395 annual fee, which applies regardless of the guest-access choice, and any extra location charges.

Capital One Lounge locations and entry checklist

A lounge benefit is useful only when you can reach the lounge before your flight. Capital One Lounges offer food, drinks and places to work or relax. Landings focus on dining, with menus curated by José Andrés Group. Amenities differ by location.

Charlotte is announced and is not counted as open here. Use the Capital One lounge finder to check current locations, hours and access before a trip.

• Check your terminal and route. Allow for security, transport between terminals and the walk back to your gate.
• Bring entry credentials. Capital One locations require an eligible physical card or digital lounge pass and a boarding pass with a confirmed seat for a same-day departing or connecting flight. Arrival-only visits and standby tickets do not qualify.
• Check timing. Departure access begins up to three hours before departure. Same-day connections can allow earlier access when you show both boarding passes.
• Plan for capacity limits. Check the app for capacity and waitlist options. Have another plan if the wait would leave too little time before boarding.

Activate access before you leave

For an authorized user, manage lounge access through the primary cardholder's Capital One account. Allow time for activation; access may take up to five days to be provisioned. To enroll in Priority Pass, open the card's Benefits page in the Capital One app, select the Priority Pass benefit and complete enrollment. Bring the physical or digital Priority Pass membership card for those visits and check the individual lounge's conditions.

Venture X lounge access FAQ

Can an authorized user enter without the primary cardholder?

An eligible additional cardholder with paid lounge access can use their own access credentials when traveling independently. Priority Pass requires their own enrollment. An unpaid authorized-user card does not include this access.

Does paying $125 include free guests?

The fee purchases access for that eligible authorized user or additional cardholder. Personal Venture X guests still follow the prices and spending-based allowances above. Venture X Business has a separate Priority Pass guest allowance. Buying annual access does not guarantee admission.

Can children use the $125 annual access option?

No. Additional cardholders must be at least 18 to qualify. For younger travelers, compare guest prices and the chosen location's child rules.

Are Priority Pass restaurant credits included?

No. The Capital One Priority Pass benefit excludes non-lounge airport experiences such as restaurant, bar, spa and gaming credits.

Can you buy a Capital One lounge visit without Venture X?

Paid entry may be available, subject to location rules and capacity. The standard rate is $90 per person per visit, and certain other Capital One cards qualify for discounted entry. DFW restricts pass purchases to Capital One credit cardholders. Check the chosen location before relying on a paid visit.

Is Venture X worth it for a family?

Start with your actual airports, the companions who travel most often and the number of lounge entries you expect. Occasional guest fees may cost less than annual access. Frequent visits by the same eligible adult can favor paid access, while children's fees can remain a meaningful cost.
