Bilt 2.0 Calculator

Ask Sebby crunches the numbers for you to calculate the Expected Value of the Bilt cards. For the expected value of points, we derive the approximate dollar value based on the numbers you enter in the calculator. Scroll down to the end of the post to see our methodology.

Calculation Methodology

The results from the above calculator are based on your ability to reach the minimum spend requirement to earn the welcome offer, your amount of spend on different categories, how you plan to redeem Bilt Rewards, and how much relative value you assign to the other benefits.
The “Years” referenced in the calculator refer to the cardmember year, based on when you are approved for the card.
  • Year 1 = first 12 months of card membership
  • Year 2 = the following 12 months afterward

Bilt 2.0: Option 1 vs Option 2

If you are a cardholder, you have two options to choose from on how to earn rewards on the card.

Option 1: Earn points on housing (automatic points)

  • Pay your full rent or mortgage each month with no transaction fee.
  • You earn points on housing automatically instead of earning Bilt Cash from everyday purchases.
  • Everyday purchases do not earn Bilt Cash, but you may still receive any welcome or annual Bilt Cash credits tied to the card.
  • Your points multiplier on housing depends on how much you spend on the card each month, up to 1.25×.

Points multiplier tiers (monthly spend vs. rent)

Example: $2,000 rent
  • 0.5× if you spend 25% of rent ($500)
  • 0.75× if you spend 50% of rent ($1,000)
  • 1.0× if you spend 75% of rent ($1,500)
  • 1.25× if you spend 100%+ of rent ($2,000+)
The app shows your progress toward each tier each month.
If you don’t meet the minimum spend requirement, you still earn 250 points per month. Bilt Card 2.0 also removes the previous 100,000-point cap on rent points, so housing points are uncapped.

Option 2: Earn Bilt Cash on everyday purchases

  • Pay your full rent or mortgage each month with no transaction fee.
  • Earn 4% back in Bilt Cash on everyday purchases, in addition to base points.
  • You can apply some or all of your Bilt Cash to increase the points you earn on housing that month.
  • You can also redeem Bilt Cash dollar-for-dollar for monthly credits within Bilt (subject to monthly, merchant-specific caps), or for benefits such as transfer bonuses and access to experiences.
The amount of Bilt Cash you earn depends on how much you spend on everyday purchases.

What Is Bilt Cash?

Bilt Cash is a separate reward balance that you can earn in addition to Bilt Points. It does not replace points.

How you earn Bilt Cash

  • You automatically earn $50 in Bilt Cash for every 25,000 Bilt Points you earn toward status.
  • You can still earn points on housing and other Bilt partner spending, whether you pay by bank account, Venmo, debit card, credit card, or a Bilt Card.

How Bilt Cash works

  • Bilt Cash can be used for certain purchases and credits inside Bilt’s partner programs.
  • When you redeem Bilt Cash for an eligible credit, it applies as a dollar amount (for example, $10 of Bilt Cash covers $10 of an eligible credit), subject to the specific rules and caps for that credit.

Extra ways to earn Bilt Cash if you have a Bilt co-brand card

  • Cardholders receive Bilt Cash when they activate the card (the amount depends on the card).
  • If your card is set to the Bilt Cash earning option, everyday purchases can earn 4% back in Bilt Cash, in addition to base points.
  • If you choose the alternative housing-points option instead, you earn tiered points on rent/mortgage (up to 1.25×), and you do not earn 4% back in Bilt Cash on everyday purchases.
