Starting August 1, 2025, American Express rolled out a major enhancement to the Disney streaming benefit for Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express and Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express cardholders. If you're subscribed to Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+, this is an easy win.

What’s New for Cardholders?

Previously, both cards required you to spend at least $9.99/month on a bundle to earn the streaming credit. Now, no minimum spend is required, and standalone services qualify.

You can now receive a monthly statement credit, even if you're not purchasing the Disney Bundle or if your charge is less than $9.99.

💡 Why This Matters

  • No more “bundle only” restriction
  • Previously, only the Disney Bundle qualified. Now, you can subscribe to any individual service via DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or Plus.espn.com directly.
  • No spend requirement
  • Even if your total charge is $0.99 (e.g., a promo), you’ll still get the statement credit, as long as you’re enrolled.

How It Works

To use the Disney streaming benefit:

  1. Log in to your American Express account.
  2. Go to your Benefits Dashboard.
  3. Enroll in the Disney Streaming Credit.
  4. Use your enrolled card to pay for a subscription at:

Subscription must be set to auto-renew. It may take up to 24 hours after enrollment for the benefit to activate. After the charge posts, you’ll typically receive the statement credit within a few business days (up to 6–8 weeks max, per Amex T&Cs).

Streaming + Cashback: The Preferred Combo

The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express also earns 6% cash back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions (on up to $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1%). That includes:

  • Netflix
  • Disney+
  • Hulu
  • ESPN+
  • Apple TV+
  • Peacock

That means you’re effectively:

  • Getting a $10 statement credit, and
  • Earning 6% cash back on the charge

If you pay $9.99 for Hulu, you’re ahead by about $0.60 every month, without doing anything extra.

Sebby's Take: If you spend heavily at U.S. supermarkets or stream a lot, this card can easily pay for itself. Just watch the annual cap and run the numbers.

Final Thoughts

This update enhances the value proposition for card members who regularly subscribe to Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+. By removing the minimum spend requirement and expanding eligibility beyond bundled subscriptions, American Express has made it easier to use this benefit on either card.

For enrolled card members who already subscribe to one of these services, the monthly statement credit could add up to:
