Tasting menu

Prices may change, and some items may be seasonal.

Dining-room tasting · $195

A seasonal pescatarian progression, with some family-style dishes. Choose communal seating or a private table when booking. Arrive for the scheduled 5pm or 8pm seating; late arrivals miss earlier courses.

The Terrace · separate à la carte menu

An open-air dinner with fish dip ($14), akara ($18), poulet maafé ($32) and curry fish ($40), among other choices. These are separate orders, not included tasting courses. The terrace also serves chicken; its menu differs from the pescatarian dining room.

Dietary needs

Contact the restaurant at least 72 hours ahead. Finfish stock runs through rice and soup. The tasting cannot accommodate finfish, soy, allium, honey, tomato or shellfish-aroma/fume restrictions, or vegan, vegetarian and kosher diets. Shellfish allergies may be accommodated with advance notice.

Choose the right reservation

Dining-room bookings are prepaid and nonrefundable; one reschedule may be requested at least two weeks ahead, subject to availability, or the booking transferred. The terrace instead has a $25-per-person late-cancellation/no-show charge within 24 hours. Both areas are cashless.

What to expect

These are examples from MICHELIN's review, not a fixed list of courses. Dakar's seasonal menu changes; its current sample progression includes shrimp, fish and Louisiana rice. Terrace dishes are a separate experience.

Mustard sauce accompanies skewered shrimp in this sample preparation.

Crab and black-eyed peas

Gulf crab with black-eyed peas and cassava combines local seafood with West African ingredients.

Okra and shrimp soup

Okra and shrimp form a savory soup course in the seafood-led progression.

Jollof rice and fish

Habanero-seasoned rice is served with grilled fish and tamarind broth.
