The American Express Delta cards currently have increased offers of 60,000 points for the Amex Gold Delta and 70,000 points for the Amex Platinum Delta. In addition to the increased offers, there is currently a flash sale to Australia.
Value of Points
When you combine the increased signup bonuses with the Flash Sale, you can get up to 2.1 cents per point (CPP) in value.
60k Delta * 2.1 CPP = $1,260
70k Delta * 2.1 CPP = $1,470
Typically, I would be hesitant to give SkyMiles such a high valuation, but it seems like flash sales are more common now.
Delta Flash Sale
The Delta Flash Sale includes departure from Atlanta, Boston, Seattle, NYC, and Portland. September to November is considered peak season in Australia since their summer is when the U.S. has winter.

A round-trip ticket will cost 50,000 miles, and taxes + fees will cost ~$100.
To come up with the 2.1 CPP valuation, I used Google Flights to find the lowest fare during that time-frame.
In the example below, the lowest retail fare is $1,063 for a round-trip ticket from Atlanta to Sydney.
Looking at the point cost and the actual cost, you can get anywhere from 1.9-2.1 CPP, depending on your departure city.
