How to Status Match to Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond Elite

Hilton Honors is currently running a fast track status challenge to earn Gold or Diamond status through March 2021. h/t Loyalty Lobby

The primary benefit of the status challenge is that you can enjoy the elite status when you start the 90-day challenge. You’ll need to have elite status from another hotel loyalty program to get started.

Who should complete the status challenge?

A handful of credit cards offer automatic Hilton Honors elite status. You might be a good candidate for the status challenge if…

  • You don’t want to add another credit card

  • You don’t want to pay more annual fees for a credit card

  • You’re applying for a mortgage in the next 6-12 months

  • You are at the 5-6 credit card maximum limit for American Express

Benefits of Hilton Gold or Diamond Status

Having Hilton Gold or Diamond status comes with a bunch of perks, but the ones that stand out to me are:

  • Point multipliers

  • Room upgrades, based on availability

  • Complimentary breakfast at all hotels

  • Executive lounge access (Diamond)

Hilton Honors Elite Status Challenge

To match to Gold or Diamond status, you’ll need to complete the following within 90 days to earn the respective status:

  • Gold: Complete 4 stays in 90 days

  • Diamond: Complete 8 stays in 90 days

It’s important to note that stays do NOT mean nights. For example, if you book a reservation that is three nights, that is only considered ONE stay.

The optimal strategy, if you have a long vacation, is to hotel hop each night. Your mileage may vary. Even if you create different reservations for consecutive nights at the same property, the system will automatically group it together as one stay.

The Hilton hotel group has a wide range of properties ranging from budget to luxury hotels.
