Citi Bank is currently running a checking promotion to earn 30,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles after spending $400 and downloading the Citi Mobile App.
How It Works
1. Open a Citi checking account between 2/15/2019-4/14/2019 using the promotional link.
Direct link to offer: https://citi.bridgetrack.com/cbol/18/q4/checking/aadvantage/default.htm
2. Within 60 days of account opening:
Spend at least $400 using the Citibank Debit or ATM card. Qualifying purchases must post to the checking account within 60 calendar days of account opening (don’t make a last minute purchase).
Download the Citi Mobile App and login to your new eligible checking account
3. 30,000 AAdvantage miles will post to your account within 90 days of completing the qualifying activities.
The Fine Print
New Citibank customers only
Cannot have an open Citibank checking account within the last 180 calendar days before opening the new account
Must have an open AAdvantage account
Must be 18+ years old to qualify
Monthly service fee of $25 is waivable if you have a monthly balance of $10,000 or more in your Citibank accounts
No minimum deposit
The offer can be pulled early once quota is met
Value of the Sign Up Bonus
AAdvantage miles are valued between 1.2 - 1.6 cents per point.
Sebby: 1.2 CPP * 30,000 = $360 in value
The Points Guy: 1.4 CPP * 30,000 = $420 in value
U.S. Credit Card Guide: 1.6 CPP * 30,000 = $480 in value
Note: I likely undervalue them since I’ve found F/J availability difficult.
American Airlines is part of the One World Alliance, so you can transfer AAdvantage Miles to airline partners.
A few ideas:
a) 35,000 AAdvantage Miles = U.S. to Japan on Cathay Pacific economy one-way
b) 40,000 AAdvantage Miles = U.S. to French Polynesia on Air Tahiti Nui economy one-way
