Chase Expands 5/24 Rule to the World of Hyatt, IHG, and British Airways Credit Cards

Chase has an unwritten 5/24 rule that will automatically deny your application if you have opened more than 5 credit cards or charge cards from any credit issuer in the past 24 months. Until recently, there were a handful of cards that weren’t affected by the 5/24 rule.

According to some data points on Reddit, Chase has expanded the 5/24 rule to the British Airways Visa Signature® Card, The World Of Hyatt Credit Card, and the IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card.

If you’re currently under 5/24, regardless of if you want the Chase Trifecta or not, I strongly recommend considering the World of Hyatt or IHG Rewards Club Premier credit cards. Both cards give you a free reward night on your cardmember anniversary.
